City of Ghosts. Picked it up as a gift, carried it back on the various airline trips home, reading along the way.
YA novel, part of a series, and not anything offensive? Makes a great gift for a tween, and I don’t have to worry about the material. Clean, and devoid of questionable themes. Well, it does have a ghost. Ghosts. But that’s to be expected. YA “paranormal” thriller?
Started reading — as seen in the image — at the Albuquerque departure lounge. Finished as the plane bounced into the San Antonio airport. That included a shuffle through various western airports, never a direct flight. (Never the easy way.)
In my head, the whole way, shuffling through the airports, as I was reading the novel, I could hear the voice of the adolescent character, “Like, you know?”
Young Adult literature must be incredibly difficult to craft, sticking to a strict ‘G’ rating.
Starts here, but quickly decamps for Scotland. Ghosts, ghost hunters, and similar ghouls, all very gently rendered? Sure.
Makes a great gift for a youngster enthralled with Post-Harry-Potter materials — I guess.
