Neighborhood Chatter

Neighborhood Chatter

Rolling the recycling to the curb, I noticed a neighbor, and I waved at him. He came over to chat, early morning, I’m standing outside, barefoot, and me, barely dressed.

He was either let go, fired, or quit, some downtown office job, some months ago. He’s been freelance ever since. We were talking about lawns, neighbors, his kids, and I asked about his current status.

He launched into a long discussion about the people with whom he was working, and how that was OK.

“Oh,” I nodded, and before thinking, I spit out, “you’ve joined the Uber generation.”

First time I’ve heard it from my mouth.

What I’ve been doing for some years years, now.
