Weather micro-notation:
2007 was one of the wettest years ever on record for South Texas. Ever on record. Wettest ever. 2009 was drought. West Texas is charred in places. The drought is back.

Live in a twister zone, heavy weather is a possibility. I was in North Austin the evening of the Jarrel twister, not ten miles south. Twelve, maybe, allow for hyperbole.

    Drought isn’t pretty, or dramatic, not lending itself to photo ops. So it goes under-reported.
    Same is true for so many critical issues; they aren’t sexy enough to have legs.
