Ten, Two and Four

The title refers to the company’s slogan, an early marketing campaign, and growing up, as I did, in the shadow of the Dr Pepper Plant, the original deco sprawl, I’ve always held a certain fondness for that beverage. The “10-2-4” slogan was on the side of the sign, first time I went to jail. Which is another sad tale, best left for other venues.

Pink Cake A commonplace book.

I wasn’t always an angel.

The sign is from a slight diner in Marathon, TX. Might even be real and vintage, although, I’d have to wonder. However, the style of the ad is about right. Next to the Gage Hotel.

Dr. Pepper wasn’t very well-known here in the Northeast when I was young… I drank Tab, diet Pepsi and diet Coke. 🙂

Always thought there was something “special” in Dr. Pepper, the way people were/are crazy about it. Addicted, even. Try to serve a Dr. Pepper drinker anything else, and the lip curls….

I managed to avoid jail. Luck. I’m very grateful.

Dr Pepper, the original, was formulated around a secret ingredient – prune juice and sugar. I grew up on it.

Cool sign – haven’t seen one of those in years!

I have never had Dr Pepper before, I don’t know why? I have lived in Canada in the 1970s, and I don’t know if they sold it there.
