Auction action

The deal is, I’m still unloading old card decks. I bought them, collected them and admired them, and now it’s time to let a few go. Figure if I haven’t used the deck in close to a decade, it’s time to let it go.

The Hanson-Roberts Tarot deck
The Hanson-Roberts Tarot Deck. Slightly used, but intact and none of the cards are bent, folded, spindled or otherwise mutilated. One of the title cards does have a crease in it, but this is merely a title card, not one of the cards that belong to the traditional tarot deck.

The imagery is light and airy, almost cartoon-like. It’s an appealing deck to work with because it can be read as all goodness and light. Or light and fluffy.

The padded envelope costs me a buck, and the USPS Priority w/confirmation is a flat $4.05 + $0.50 for a total of $5.55 flat shipping fee, Out of the lower 48 states or unusual shipping needs are at the buyer’s expense.

Barbara Walker Tarot Deck
The Barbara Walker Tarot was at one time, an exceptional deck to use. This one is virtually new. The cards feel like they’ve never even been shuffled. The images themselves are varied – drawing on several esoteric traditions. I’m a littler reluctant to let these go, but the deal is, they haven’t been used – if at all – in a very long time. Out with the old. Still a cool deck with some strong imagery. Very evocative.

The Golden Dawn Tarot
Golden Dawn Tarot Deck, illustrated by Robert Wang – under the direction of Israel Regardie, and comes with a complete booklet of instructions, which was written by Robert Wang. Pristine, unsealed, but terribly nice cards in good to excellent condition.

Oddly enough, these cards bear an uncanny similarity to the other deck, previously auctioned off here, the “Robert Wang Jungian Tarot.” Same artist. Same cool feeling. Not as cold but not nearly the warmest deck I’ve ever looked at, either.

I didn’t open the booklet, one page is dog-eared, probably came from the printer that way. Cards are all there, intact and in excellent condition, plenty of snap. Feels like they’ve never even been shuffled.

Ancien Tarot de Marseille
The deck is called the Ancien Tarot de Marseille, and it’s a Grimaud printing of a very old design. Printed in France, I’d guess, and the 2 of Coins shows 1748-1930 as dates worked into the design. How old are they really? Not more than a 20 years old.

Although now offered by U.S. Games Systems, this is an older version, and it’s certainly not part of the US Game System’s catalog. The cards are printed in English and French, and the booklet is both English and French.

The “Wands” suite is called the “clubs” so the lineage and historical value is there, in this Tarot deck.
