The Shakespeare Thefts

Interesting text, about the known histories and recurring fabulation of the extant copies of the near-mythic Shakespeare’s First Folio.

One of the more surprising, serendipitous discoveries in my wandering way. The downtown library, cool respite on a hot spring afternoon. I happened across the title and read about half the book, sitting on a bench in the library, engaged. I noted the title and looked for it, discovering it in a bookstore, halfway across town.

I intended to mark up my copy, and, I have done that, but I doubt my marginalia adds to the value of the book.

Shakespeare’s First Folio, the birth of the legend. Perhaps the most documented and purloined manuscript in the world.
