[Kills Saturninus. A great tumult. The people in confusion disperse.]
in Shakespeare's Titus Andronicus (V.iii.113)

It's really just a stage direction, but I liked it. We might all have problems with Saturn from time to time. And, the Roman deity gave way to this month's party time, the annual Saturnalia, and according to some pagan traditions, this is a time when the owners set the slaves at liberty, if only for a brief time.

Monthly Overview of Astrological conditions: Just about all the planets wind up going in a forward motion -- all except Saturn -- and that means we've finally got a really good month cooking up. There are numerous events which we can all look forward to. Jupiter slows to a crawl, and he barely gets moving forward by the end of the millennium, but there's a lot of hope in Jupiter. And at least one of astrology teachers once suggested (bet they're surprised I took careful notes) that Saturn in retrograde ain't all bad at all. With Mars in Aquarius all month long, there's a certain energy level that all of our dear, fixed sign will be feeling.

Aries: There's a pattern that you feel like you've been stuck in. Perhaps this is a behavior trait. Perhaps it's a personality quirk that doesn't bother you, but the person in the next cube finds it particularly annoying. As long as we are looking at a new millennium thing right around the corner, or at least a new year, then it's a time to do something about this pattern you want to break. In the Christian Faith, there's a season called Lent, and this is observed by giving up one vice for a period of time. I'm not about to debate the secular nature of astrology and faith, but I will suggest that this month gives you a chance to give something up -- once and for all. My personal suggestion is giving up poverty, but I've been largely unsuccessful at acquiring large amounts of capital, either. However, one Lent, I did give up guilt, and I've felt better ever since. You might try the same thing. Pick on just one vice (that you want to get rid of), and dump it this season, and never look back.

Taurus: There's one final test coming, and I'll assure you that you will pass the test. The little problem with this test is the part of the exam which has to do with how you manage your irritation. You're going to have to find a decent outlet for the frustrations that results from having Mars over yonder in Aquarius, upsetting your delicate Taurus applecarts. Whatever it is that you haul to market is going to be well received. You're going to find that you can let people know, especially at work, just how valuable you are. But this isn't going to be done without a degree of frustration. There's going to be a certain degree in this test, this month, that's really going to excite you, and probably not in a good way. The real test is how you handle getting your elegant Taurus feather ruffled. It all depends on how you deliver the goods. With a month like this brewing, and with the added impetus of the holiday drivel going on, you're going to find that you are tempted to use a single digit salute. It's not a good idea. Make sure you know what is truly correct before you set at to admonish an opponent. Enemies and allies might appear in different guises. It's that Saturnalia theme, again.

Gemini: On the first day of the month, you're going to run a piece of software that will tell you that your personal computer is all Year Two Thousand Compliant. And leave it at that. You've got your multiple Gemini hands and minds full with everything going on this month. There's just a whole lot of activity in your sign, or rather, in signs which compliment your sign. That bodes well for you. But remember last month? You were talking in a foreign language, mumbling like a character from a cartoon? This month, your voice rings clear, true and strong. The adverse condition have shifted, and it's all suddenly good for you. Do something with the stuff that is good for you. Make use of that energy. Got a date for the big night, too? In the case of most Gemini's, you might want to have a back up date ready, as well. Or have a backup date ready, too. Yes, things are going to go sailing along pretty well in Gemini land. No two ways about that.

Cancer: This month shapes up a lot better than you first thought that it would. It's getting there, and there's a persistent problem with the holidays, and the days get closer, and you suddenly feel like you are running out of time. It's the whole new year, new millennium thing that's got you just a little more worried than you really need to be. Let me whisper a little secret in your delicate Cancer ear, it's just another new year celebration, and it's not that big of a deal. Besides, you're going to do the proper Cancerian thing, and get all of your shopping out of the way ahead of time. I know that you're worried about this. Of course, you want to start on your big plans for this coming beginning of the end, but you're not quite ready yet, and there's a still a few loose ends which are all going to require your rapt attention. Get as much done as possible before the Xmas day, starting around the winter solstice, as the sun moves in Capricorn, you're going to want to be doing as little as possible. Get everything out of the way, ahead of time.

Leo: I really like the archetype for this Fixed Fire Sign, especially this month: the Lion. Nothing better personifies how you need to be acting than a mighty, majestic, magnanimous lion. Go to the front, take a bow, accept the accolades. And, if it doesn't work out quite like that, be willing to fight tenaciously for what you know is right. Yes, you are right, and yes, you are in the spot light this month. It might feel a little bit like an interrogation chamber as opposed to a vaudeville spot light, but if you are willing to make a stand, willing to persevere, willing to make a go of it, you're going to be the winner. Notice that's "the winner" and not "a winner." We are dealing with the most majestic of signs this month, and you need to attention. Looks like you're going to get it, too, one way or anther.

Virgo: Home projects take precedence around this holiday time. No two ways about it. Get that generator hooked up and ready to go. Make sure you have enough food to last more than a few days, all locked up in the pantry. Fill the bathtub with water. This is your basic disaster preparedness drill going on, and yes, most celebrations like this whole holiday time need to be approached just like this. It's just like preparing for a twister in Texas. Follow much of the same drill. It's a heavy weather warning, if you know what I mean. I don't think that you are really in for any big calamity at all, but there's nothing that makes a decent Virgo happier than preparing for just such an event. In fact, things look really wonderful for you right now. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find yourself hunkered down in your own, personal storm cellar with one that you really like. You know, some one close and fun to be with? You might not come up for air until some time after this whole holiday season — and your place could be a lot more fun like that. Got any extra room?

Libra: I tend to look on the bright side, even though I'm often accused of being a cynic, and the bright side this month is good. There's some financial dealings which are really going to go more in your favor. Money doesn't buy love, and money ain't ever going to purchase any happiness, but there's a certain calm that comes from having an adequate supply of gold in your pocket. That's the bright side that I'm looking at for you this month. There's also another little piece which is going to fall into place, and I know you've been waiting for this, too. It does have to do with happiness, and this month, there's a strange event, courtesy of the unpredictable pair of Neptune and Uranus, and this event (don't make me pick a day, could happen anytime this month) is good for you. So expect some unexpected surprise relief, and expect it when you least expect it. It looks like Xmas will come a might bit early for you. Enjoy it. And have some fun for me, too.

Scorpio: There's a bizarre dichotomy to your month. On the one branch of the Scorpio Tree of Life, there's Venus traipsing across your sign all month long. On the other branch, there's Mars in Aquarius, making trouble. Both can be good. Both can be upsetting. Which is it going to be? That, my fine Scorpio friend, is up to you. You get to make the call on what this month is like. The better your attitude, the better off you are. But should you attitude falter some, should you stumble, you'll find that there are a set of Martian wolves, ready to gobble you up. It's not, in retrospect, like it's been an easy year. But this month you get to use a little of the Scorpio charm you've got, and useful Venus energy, to draw a conclusion a chapter of your life. For good or for ill? We find ourselves back at the concept that you get to make the call. I trust you'll use your best judgment, and for a change, that super nice Scorpio side will exert itself.

Sagittarius: Give up all hope this month. Surrender to the inevitable. I keep hearing immortal words "Bring me the girl, and her little dog, too!" running through my Sagittarius brain. Let's face a few strange facts. There is a lot of very positive energy flowing through your veins right now. There's also a lot of unstable forces at work in your life as well. It's like one of those currents in a little mountain stream, it just doesn't look that strong. It turns out to be a more powerful force than you planned on reckoning with. And that's what happens to you: Venus makes a stately entrance into your sign at the end of the month. But until Venus gets here, and despite the warming trend emanating from Mars, just take it a little easy. Don't get too pushy in a social situation. That's not advice that a good Archer wants to hear, but it's sound advice. back off on your lack of social graces, and be a little careful about what demands you put on your significant others.

Capricorn: The month gets off to a strange start. In my old motorcycle days, we saved weight on a race bike by removing the starter motor. Darn starter weighed in at something like 20 pounds. In order to get the bike going, we had to "run and bump" which implies a foot action applied to the back side of the motorcycle. Tedious is the best way to describe this method of getting started. And this month is off to the same tedious start. Now, I wouldn't be using a race bike analogy for no reason, I mean, there's a definite correlation here. It does get going. The month, I mean. It does take off and circulate the race track of life. In fact, from a slow start, the month gets up and really, really rolls along. I'm not a promising a first place finish, but you do get a dramatic "come from behind" photo opportunity as the month develops. There are thrills and chills, but thankfully, no spills. Enjoy the ride.

Aquarius: Mars is a prime motivator this month. And from a period in time when everything feels like it's been stuck, you're going to get going along at furious pace. Thank your lucky stars. And speaking of lucky stars, there are few breaks this month which are going to feel like they are less than wonderful. Apply that wonderful Aquarius outlook to these breaks, and consider some Sagittarius view points as well. Those lucky Sagittarius people always manage to find a silver lining in every dark cloud. So when the few dark clouds seem to pass overhead this month, grab a pair of Sagittarius binoculars to and search out the goodness there. It is there. You just have to search for it a little. But the over all projections for this month are basically goods — just find the correct outlet for that Mars driven energy.

Pisces: the 12th House in Astrology, at least in traditional astrology, is always associated with Pisces. And, it's also associated with "secret enemies," at least, that's what my old text book says. I tend to doubt the secret enemies line because most of our secret enemies seem to be from our own subconscious. So what this month is really like is a time to prepare for the coming new age. Yeppers, it's that time of year again, I would urge you to look over the past year this month, consider what worked, what didn't work, who you need to dump, and who you want to hold onto. Then I would also suggest that you make a list of these people, maybe just in your own mind, and then I would further urge you not to do too much with this list. It's not a good time to take any real action. Think about it? Yes. Action? Not yet. Planning and preparation is of paramount importance, and right now isn't the best time to start flinging people out of your life. You're going to want to revise that list as new data becomes available.
