"Let the doors be shut upon him, that he may play the fool no where
but in's own house."
Hamlet in Shakespeare's Hamlet (II.ii.163)

The beginning of the month find the Sun in Virgo and Mars in Leo. Following their prescribed and ordained routes, the end of the month finds these two objects progressed to the Sun in Libra and Mars in Virgo. Jupiter is slowing down to a crawl as he is "just fixin'" to go retrograde, but he doesn't actually turn around until the very end of the month. In the middle of the month, however, stuck at the gateway into Gemini, Saturn does go backwards. Of course, relative to our home here on Earth, Saturn's movement is minimal. Venus swings all the way through Libra this month, as does Mercury.

Wonder what all this means to you? Secure, online ordering is available on the web site, get your own chart done there: http://www.astrofish.net

Aries : I'm looking at a series of conflicting prognostications right now, and I figure I can boil it all down to one word: romance. Don't get confused by romance and relationships this month. In fact, a little extra care would be useful with handling romantic interludes, your feelings, that hot burning passion, and all the stuff the romantic poets write about. There is one Aries who will reply to me, and pointedly direct my attention to the fact that there is no romance in that one Aries life right now. But other than that one person, the sign as a whole is in good standing. But I would caution you to approach this romance with a degree of trepidation. As much as you want to fling yourself into this burning BBQ pit of "love," I wonder if you don't want to back up, and perhaps grab a pair of oven mitts -- asbestos lined oven mitts -- to handle this emotional firecracker. There's a good chance that you might just forget everything else, and focus on one person a little too much. That excludes the other stuff which is happening, and you might miss something important. So do your best to get a decent set of BBQ tongs, if not heavy oven gloves, to handle this moment of fiery passion. It will keep you from getting blistered by the heat.

Taurus : This is only a test, not the real event, but this month, this time in your life, it has a chance to give you an overall flavor about that which is important in your life. If you're on a fairly decent track, if you're moving forward at a pace that is comfortable for you, if things are where they are supposed to be, then this little test called, "September, 2000" will present no challenge. But I seriously doubt that we are all on a pathway, a destiny in life that is so clear. So get ready to take the test. Get ready to see if you are really sure about what it is that you're doing in life. It's like trying out a new fishing lure, you've read about it in the magazine -- this new design of lure is supposed to work wonders. You're up before dawn, and down at the lake, boat's in the water, and you're ready to try your new piece of equipment. After close to an hour of no luck, you switch back to old faithful, and you get a strike on the first cast. That's the hint with this month, you would surely berate yourself for years if you don't try that latest new gimmick, but if it doesn't work, don't be afraid to go back to the old ways which have been proven to work over time.

Gemini : You've been warned about what is going on this month for some time now. It's not like this isn't some new concept. But there are a couple of astrological events that need to be looked at. One of them is Saturn, who stands at the doorway to Gemini all month. First he puts one foot in the door, then he retracts that foot. What he's doing is calling your attention to an area of your life that needs some fairly drastic changes. We can make this easy, or we can all struggle with it, but Saturn is merely letting you know that he's there, and he's going to eventually force some change. Make it as easy or hard as you desire. Then there's Jupiter, and you've had a good taste of what he can do. Finally, there's a strange little hint that comes in sometime this month, and that's a good little hit from Venus. The planet of love, though, is not nearly as strong as the other movers and shakers in the sky, so it's up to you to maximize what Venus does. Sometimes, you feel like you're not getting ahead when, in fact, you are moving forward. That's what this month is about: realize what gains you are making, and use them. Don't belabor the energies which seem to be expended on useless attempts to get ahead. Cut your losses and move on.

Cancer : The world is supposed to be a better place by now, but things in the Cancer camp of life just don't seem to be getting a lot better. It's as if there's a slow and gradual downhill slide that's going on this month. While it is certainly not disastrous, it does feel like there's a problem or two. One or more of my dear Cancer friends will write to me this month and ask, "Is Mercury Retrograde again?" No, that's not the case in this situation. But the effects of the month are going to feel a little bit like that. Mercury is communication, and that's when travel plans, arrangements to meet friends, and fishing parties all go awry. That's why it's going to be assumed that it's Mercury causing the mayhem. It's not, because the problem is associated with other signs and other planets, but for the sake of argument, you can pretty easily assume that it's a Mercury type of downhill slide. Not bad, just not the greatest. And it's small errors that cause the consternation on your fevered Cancer brow -- not big problems. That sort of way of looking at the month should give you some hope, too, because it's not one large problem you're dealing with, just a series of minor irritants. It's like sugar ants in the cupboard here -- no easy solution, but a little bit of extra kitchen hygiene keeps them at bay.

Leo : The parties are long over. There is the State Fair coming along, and maybe it wouldn't hurt to start preparing yourself for that. I hope you get the idea. Last month was a little rough, but this month proves to be a lot smoother. It's not with out a timely interruption or two, but as a whole, it slides by on a much more predictable track. You have the last degrees of Leo being "leaned on" by Mars. But Mars, especially in the late degrees of Leo, can actually heat up a few things in a nice way. Mars will lend you the energy necessary to prepare for the big State Fair weekend (in Texas, the State Fair is a big event), and you're going to want to marshal together your Leo energies so you can be ready for this kind of party. There's a lot of ground to cover for this big deal coming up at the end of the month, so I suggest that you start getting ready now. One of the all time favorite past times is "cotton candy" and it's intoxicating smell will invade your Leo's fine tuned sense of smell by the end of the month. That's an olfactory hint about what's to come. Don't let your ire get up in the first part of the month because you've got a chance for all of this work out in the last part of the month.

Virgo : The better part of this month has a certain "Virgo twang" to it. After my extensive travels throughout Texas, and even to parts beyond the borders of the great state, I've been able to delineate the subtle changes in language from place to place. Portions of West Texas have a slightly more nasal version of the accent as compared to the lilting, almost Southern accent in deep East Texas. Then there's the really cobbled stuff in Central Texas, and portions of South Texas include more than a fair share of Spanish (really Mexican) accents. As long it's mostly a Virgo birthday month, no discussion about verbal communication would be complete without suggesting that there is a certain Virgo-sound to this month. The problem is making sure that the Virgo noise is not what many astrologers euphemistically refer to as a "Virgo whine." As long as you've got the influences that you do, make sort of joyful noise instead of what everyone else expects out of you. Surprise them all this month -- besides, you should have something to shout about.

Libra : The duration of this month sees Venus, the planet of peace, harmony, all things beautiful -- in your sign. Venus is a good girl, sometimes. In a certain school of very arcane astrology, though, Venus is treated as a Warrior Archetype. I'm not naming names, but that fits with a certain ex of mine, that's for sure. So as long as you've Venus traipsing all through your sign, and even though Venus is usually considered a minor planet, I wonder if her spectacular side-effects are not going to be felt by my sensitive Libra friend? This is a time for Peace and Harmony. I just hope that it's amongst friends, and it's not my cat who tries to harmonize. While it may be music to her ears, some folks would suggest that it's just caterwauling. That brings us to a point that I would also suggest that you consider this month: as much as you feel like you're making peace where there was nothing but trouble and strife, consider how your appearance is being perceived by the opposing forces. Under your Venus influence, you might figure that you sound typically Libra-like, and rather good. But like my cat, the noise other folks -- the neighbors -- are hearing might be received a little different.

Scorpio : This is the weird time of the year for Scorpio, and this strange flavor to the month just gets more and more bizarre as the month progresses. Two opposing forces are at work. One is busy uncovering various nefarious parts of the deep Scorpio psyche, stuff which laid dormant and untouched for years. The other side is a light and airy feeling that everything is wonderful in the world. On one side of your monthly astrological coin, it's a mighty Phoenix Bird, rising from the ashes of the long forgotten past. On the other side of the same astrological coin, it's the tail of that same bird, and it's down into the stuff from the tail of that bird where you're going to have a dig a little. So flip the Scorpio astrology coin this month, heads or tails, it still comes up with the same message. The good news is that by the very end of the month, you're going to be feeling like you are, indeed, one of this Scorpio archetypes so often battered about: you will be feeling like a Phoenix. Of course, I wonder if it's a pile of ashes or if it's a pile of some other organic material that you're rising from, but either way, you do get a chance to shine before the month is up. And yes, it does get a little bit better, each day -- the further Mars gets from Leo, the better you feel.

Sagittarius : We need to examine relationship, and I am not referring to romantic relationships, either. In fact, the question of, "love - honor - cherish" should be swept from your mind this month. You put a deal together. It looks wonderful. Things are great. It falls apart. You stack it all back together again, and it looks like it will come off, and then you hit a serious snag. It reminds me, due to the relative position of Jupiter, Mars and the Sun, it so reminds me of getting out on the lake and digging through my tackle, trying to locate a lucky fishing lure. No matter how carefully I packed, I couldn't find it. It just wasn't there. Not willing to give into the frustration, after half an hour of digging though the tackle, I decided to use something else. It worked just fine that morning. When I got back to Shady Acres Trailer Park, though, I looked for that lucky lure again. It was right in the top tray of the tacklebox. The Sagittarius month is like that -- if you can't find what you are looking for, then be willing to improvise. You might surprised at the good results, especially in the middle of the month.

Capricorn : I've aligned your various charts for this month, and I still keep getting good news. It's not like this month is going to be absolutely problem free, but there's a lot more good stuff than bad stuff. There's also a difficult pattern of change which is blowing on the cosmic winds this month. The real problem with this changeling burst of air is that it's not a problem for my fine Capricorn friend. It is a problem for some other people though, and sooner or later, this month, you are going to encounter this. It's a rough spot in an otherwise smooth period of time. It's not a bad rough spot, not if you wear a decent plastic coated surface. For you, this change is going to be affected by other people. And I'm not one to foretell doom and gloom, but there's a big rift which might open up at work. This is the month when you're going to be called on to stitch this back together because in the face of adversity, no one can be as cool and calm as you are.

Aquarius : The month doesn't neatly divide itself into sections, but there is an increased emphasis on certain events, and as long as we are dealing with a Virgo time, you're going to find yourself dealing with messy arrangements in your private social life. Relationships become a central focus as the month starts. In fact, these relationships (occasionally lack of relationships) becomes a centerpiece on your Aquarius table. Of course, to most normal signs, the term "relationships" implies "romantic relationships" and I wouldn't hesitate to suggest that you Aquarius types are any different in this respect, at least, not this month. However, I would urge a different definition for the terms, if only for right now. There's a great day coming, and that's going to hit around the end of the month. Just exactly when? I'm not too worried because I will look forward to an ecstatic Aquarius e-mail, sometime around then. But getting to the end of the month while avoiding the "relationship" trap might be a little bit of a challenge.

Pisces : I could address some of the planets' big movements, but there's a very subtle "feeling" afoot in Pisces right now, and due to my understanding of the sensitive nature of the Pisces psyche, I figure this is what needs to be looked at. It has a lot to do with both Jupiter and Saturn. Saturn was very useful in old time astrology because he was easy to predict with. And if you're willing to listen to the mystical, metaphysical music of the spheres at this point, you can avoid some really serious frustration later. Nothing is worse than showing up for a fishing date and not having a pole to fish with. What's up with that? In order to prevent this from happening to you, a little bit of thoughtful preparation is in order. This month, you get the slightest hint, the barest little echo, the smallest suggestion of what needs to be changed in your life. You even get a viable opportunity to make it better, too, but, once again, that idea of preparation is in order. The biggest problem with this month is that this is only a slight influence. It's not like it's a really big one, but if you are able to learn to pay attention to the more subtle hint this month, you can make some great gains in the very near future. Consider it advance warning information. Or a better astrological weather forecast.
